The Great Exhibition of 1851 was an epic celebration of the British Empire and its triumphs. Held in the 'Crystal Palace' in Hyde Park, the event attracted around a third of Britain's total population to marvel at exhibits showcasing British innovation. The event brought Britons together and fostered a new culture of hope and enthusiasm, following two decades of political and social upheaval.

Now, 160 years later, the dark days of recession are receding, and it is time for the proud workhorse that is the Great British business community to hold its head high.

We have weathered the storm and we are stronger for it. This calls for another celebration of mammoth proportions.
